The Migration of the Warrington Gamers

Dear All,

The temporary venue of St Oswald’s Church Hall seemed to work well and they are keen for us to stay with them on a permanent basis.  The only additional requirement is that we arrange Public Liability Insurance for the club, which I can sort out.

Jeff and Julie have sold their home in Warrington and are going to be re-locating to France this year. They are just waiting on contracts and other paperwork before moving.  Jeff has advised me to look for another venue sooner rather than later.

I am proposing that we move permanently to St Oswald’s Church Hall and that we do not return to Jeff’s. With the need for Public Liability Insurance and to cover low-attendance weeks I want to set the weekly subs at £2 per person per night. We can always review this after a few months to see how it is working.

I will miss Jeff & Julie, they have been great hosts over the years but while the Church Hall does charge us; well it is warmer and cleaner.

Is everyone in agreement over this?

Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

I am going to wait a week before confirming our intention with both Jeff and the Church so if anyone has input please post it before Wednesday  January 20th or speak to me next Monday as I’ll be around.

All the best, Dave

Happy to move to this venue and pay the subs Dave. Also wanted to say thank you for sorting this out. Can I suggest some sort of whip round ( behave ) for Jeff and Julie to say thanks for looking after us.

Just to echo Sean, thanks for organising all of this Dave, I think a lot of what goes on behind the scenes isn't always appreciated. I also agree that some form of recognition for Jeff and Julie is very appropriate and I'm happy to contribute.

Happy to move to the new venue Dave, and I think that £2 a week is very reasonable, especially when we will be providing our own food and drinks instead of feasting on Jeff's special brew tea and Jeff Burgers direct from Ellery Briss.

@Mark is to blame.: I’m going to name my next PC after him, former butcher on the run ?

Gents, i fully echo all of the above... Jeff's has done us well but its inevitable for a change. More than willing to contribute to a gift for them both on their new journey whether it be France or Croatia. Subs, again more than happy with that - suggest a review once we have the liability insurance. The fee is easily value for money for what we get, hate to think what we would truly have to pay if it wasn't for your hard work and diligence in finding these places

Likewise happy to move and the subs are fine. The new venue is a good sized space for us with decent facilities. Happy to contribute to some recognition for Jeff & Julie.

Thanks for sorting this Dave, i assume the £2 will cover room hire and insurance. Are there any food/ drink facilities available there or just what we bring with us? Happy to donate to a gift, if they are going to France i would suggest a box of soap and a book on DIY.

No issues from me. Great little place so well done in finding it. I was going to suggest a whip round for J&J too, so happy to contribute to any collection.

Hi Russ, There is a kitchen at the venue with a microwave, kettles and a fridge. We can use their cutlery, plates and mugs as long as we clean them before we leave. I am sorting out a cupboard for us to store Tea, coffee, battle mats etc

Happy with the new venue and getting something for Jeff and Julie. I am not sure about the lack of smell in the new place or being able to see everyone clearly, it was a bit of a shock.

Hello All,
I have a card for Jeff and Julie which we can all sign on Monday. I’ll leave it out.
There will also be an opportunity to contribute to a collection them as well, if you would like to. If you are not attending and would like to contribute then please do contact me.
Lastly there will be Tea and Coffee in the kitchen and Milk in the fridge – please help yourselves. We should be getting a cupboard very soon but the wheels of the Parish Council turn slowly.
See you all soon,
Dave

Hi,
On Monday Jeff and Julie will be around at their club for us to pop down and say a proper thanks goodbye to them.
I suggest that those who want to, meet up at the Church Hall at 7pm and then we pop down to give them their card and their collection as a friendly mob.
Cheers, Dave
